In the year 1990 a group of students and young boys started functioning as branch organisation of Relief Welfare Ambulance Corps (RWAC), Kolkata to help the poor villagers as well as accident victims and helped them primary health services. The young people got training from RWAC on First Aid and Primary Health Care and used to render voluntary service to the villagers. During Durga Puja, Gangasagar Mela and in the play grounds they used to stand by the ailing people.

In the year 1993 necessity of registering the organisation was felt and though some dispute was there regarding the name and title of the organisation initially yet on 18th August 1994 the organisation was registered under West Bengal Societies Registration Act XXVI of 1961 under the name and style ‘Bagaria Relief Welfare Ambulance Society’ and started functioning as a registered voluntary organisation.

Bagaria Relief Welfare Ambulance Society is a Non Profit & Non Governmental Organisation, has been working in rural area of West Bengal since 1990. The main focus of the organisation is women empowerment through Self Help Groups and Joint Liability Groups. Other area of works is consumer protection, prevention of HIV/AIDS, livelihood promotion to the poor, resource & information centre, training & networking.
