About NGO
Gram Sathi is a non-governmental organization (NGO) established on April 25, 2007, under the Indian Trust Act, 1882. It is dedicated to empowering marginalized communities and promoting sustainable development in rural India. Headquartered in Deoghar, Jharkhand, the organization works across five states — Jharkhand, Bihar, Assam, West Bengal, and Odisha.
Gram Sathi envisions a progressive and sustainable society where every individual enjoys peace, dignity, and equal opportunities. Its mission is to enhance the quality of life of vulnerable populations through education, health, sustainable livelihoods, and capacity-building initiatives. The organization emphasizes partnership, participation, and equity as its core values.
Over the years, Gram Sathi has implemented various programs focusing on women’s empowerment, child protection, financial literacy, livelihood promotion, environmental conservation, and community health. It has successfully formed and supported Self-Help Groups (SHGs), trained farmers in organic and modern agriculture, and organized financial literacy campaigns in collaboration with institutions like the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) and NABARD.
With a people-centered and participatory approach, Gram Sathi strives to build self-reliant communities by ensuring food security, promoting social justice, and fostering sustainable livelihoods. Its ongoing efforts aim to create a poverty-free, inclusive, and environmentally secure society in the Santhal Pargana region and beyond.
