The Bengal Chamber Foundation always believes in the transformative power of community-driven initiatives. Today, we are proud to spotlight the incredible work of the Sports Coaching Foundation (SCF), a BCF-verified organisation dedicated to uplifting underprivileged youth by bringing the joy, discipline, and opportunity of sports to those who often lack access to such privileges.

The NGO Behind the Impact: Sports Coaching Foundation (SCF)

Established in 1991 by Mr. Kammela Saibaba, a former Ranji Trophy Cricketer, SCF carries a legacy of 34 years of dedicated community service. Operating primarily across Telangana (including Hyderabad, Karimnagar, and Medchal-Malkajgiri), SCF was founded with a clear vision: to promote a sports culture within vulnerable and impoverished communities.

To date, SCF has positively impacted the lives of over 1,50,000 vulnerable children and youth. Their mission goes beyond the playground; they use sport as an empowerment tool, supplementing athletic training with vital life skills. By focusing on overall personality development—encompassing health, fitness, and peace—SCF actively contributes to fulfilling the United Nations' Sustainable Development Goals. With their dual objective of creating a passion for sports and transforming lives, they truly utilise "sport as a universal tool".

Here is a closer look at the remarkable impact they have created over the last few months.

A Three-Month Journey: Bridging the Gap in Youth Sports

Over the past three months, SCF actively conducted a series of dynamic sports and community engagement activities tailored for vulnerable children. For many of these youths, these initiatives became their very first opportunity to participate in organised, structured sports actively.

The core aim of these recent programmes was to use sports as a powerful tool for:

  • Empowerment and confidence-building
  • Fostering inclusion and teamwork
  • Overall physical and mental development
  • Uplifting and empowering young girls

By bringing together students, educators, coaches, volunteers, and community members, SCF successfully created a positive and safe learning environment that encouraged widespread participation.

Breaking Barriers: Empowering Young Girls Through Play

The action-packed events hosted by SCF included athletics, volleyball, badminton, basketball, throwball, and other team-based games. Students enthusiastically showcased their skills and developed newfound confidence on the field.

A major focus of these initiatives was gender inclusion. Girls, in particular, were strongly encouraged to step out of their comfort zones. They were empowered to take on leadership roles, participate fearlessly, and engage actively in team activities, challenging societal stereotypes and proving their capabilities on and off the court.

Beyond the Playground: Holistic Development and Awareness

Staying true to their mission of teaching life skills, SCF ensured the initiative focused heavily on holistic youth development. Various coaching sessions and awareness activities were organised across schools and communities to ensure the impact lasted long after the games ended.

Motivational sessions were conducted to highlight the importance of:

  • Equal opportunities in sports and education
  • Personal health, fitness, and hygiene
  • Continuous personal growth and inner peace

These meaningful interactions helped children build self-esteem, improve communication skills, and foster a deep sense of belonging within their communities.

Celebrating Milestones and Building Confidence

To ensure the children felt seen and valued, the initiatives recognised and celebrated student achievements through formal prize distribution ceremonies. By awarding medals, trophies, and certificates, participants were highly motivated to continue pursuing sports and personal development.

The encouragement received from teachers, mentors, special guests, and volunteers played a crucial role in inspiring the children. One of the most meaningful outcomes of these activities was simply witnessing children confidently step onto the playground—many for the first time in their lives.

A Pathway to a Better Future

These initiatives reflect SCF's deep-rooted commitment to creating access to sports for vulnerable children and empowering young girls. At the Bengal Chamber Foundation, we are honoured to share their story and verify their incredible on-ground efforts. We firmly believe that meaningful community engagement through sports is a powerful pathway toward confidence, leadership, inclusion, and hope for a brighter future.
